Couldn't Stay Away

Apparently, winter just couldn't stay away...so here I am, pulling out everything warm & heavy once again! When I first purchased this furry creature of a vest, I never thought I would get much use out of it.  As most of you know (and are probably sick of seeing), I've gotten more than my moneys worth out it.  On the bright side, the sun's shining...

Either Or

I've worn this vest twice since I dyed it to resemble Isabel Marant's version (see how I made it here). Worn in Halifax for the first time, I dressed it down for a long day of drinking at a local pub & this time, I've dressed it up a bit more.  Last time you saw this sheer skirt, it was a dress (see it here)...I just chopped the top half off & viola. Which outfit do you prefer?

Wearing:

Actress & Activist

Meet Britni. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, she studied theater in Chicago, Illinois & now acts for a living. Introduced by a former roommate, I was overcome by her beauty upon meeting her (she is an actress after all).  Unlike any other actress/actor I have ever met, Britni is selfless. She has an inner warmth & kindness that immediately presents itself once she starts talking.  The Kicker: When she isn't onstage performing, she's out making the world a better place.  Britni is the president & Founder of Global Empathy Now, a non-profit charitable organization giving aid with empowerment to various projects all over the world.  She recently made the trek to Africa (funding a majority of the trip herself) to deliver supplies to children.  Ever since, with the help of generous donations, her cause is responsible for feeding 145 underprivileged Tanzanian children at school for over a year now.

But she isn't stopping there....she has offered to help with disaster relief in Japan as well! Her proposal? Every dollar that is donated to Global Empathy (benefiting the children's food program in Tanzania), will be personally matched by Britni toward relief for Japan until she matches $1,000 (Update: She has already reached her limit, but your support is still appreciated). Not only will you be supporting the lives of over 100 children in Africa, but you are also encouraging her to donate more toward the critically urgent relief for Japan.  To donate & read more about Britni, visit her blog here.  A Big thanks to Britni for being Britni & for serving as a constant reminder that it only takes one person to make a difference.

The Blues

A cobalt blue trifecta if I do say so myself....crossing that vintage sweater right off my spring wish list (see spring's most wanted here).  I wore this little number out to dinner & a movie over the weekend.  As you can see, I'm the proud owner of a new Celine & couldn't be happier with my decision to go with such a vibrant color.  The weather has been very gloomy lately, blue just seemed so appropriate...

Photo Friday

Another round of randomness from my everyday life. Although I didn't snap the first photo, I couldn't resist including it in today's post for the simple reason that I want every single one of these bracelets from Mr. Kate! Hope everyone has an amazing weekend :)

Stark Contrast

The last time I wore these tops together was while channeling a collection from Miu Miu (see the look here). Due to the double layer of shoulder pads (love them), I couldn't wear the cardigan I was planning to layer over this without looking like a football player.  Therefore, I opted for a more laid-back look by wearing skinny jeans & boots, instead of a skirt & platform mary janes.  As stated time & time again, I love the contrast created by pairing black with a shade of yellow....or any pop of bright color really...

Wearing: Black top (BB Dakota)/ Yellow blouse & Sunnies (vintage)/
Jeans (U.O.)/ Boots (F21)/ Blazer (H&M)/ Rings (BR & vintage)/
Bracelets (J.Crew)

Spring Wish List

What started out as warmer temperatures & more sunshine than I've seen in a month, Spring was definitely in the air. Today, I woke up to blowing snow & encountered icy roads on my way to work. Even with this freak snowfall,  I'm currently in the process of transitioning my wardrobe from winter to spring, replacing all my heavy knits with lighter jackets & cardigans.  There are a few items that have caught my eye that are definite MUST HAVES...

A Bright Red Skirt, cut just like Kate's...
Light Pink Denim Shorts, just like these from Isabel Marant...
An Asymmetrical Cropped Sweater, just like this one from Alexander Wang...
Bright Orange Skinny Jeans, just like this pair from Zara...
*Update: 3 Zara stores were sold out, so I'm sewing my own orange pants*
A bright blue knit, just like this one...
An elvish ring, just like these from RedSofa..

Catch the Fever

Seriously kicking myself for not purchasing a pair of red hued jeans months ago...mostly due to the fact that red is my favorite color & I love the contrast it creates when paired with simple wardrobe staples.  There's nothing like a bright color to turn a gloomy day around...

Wearing: Vest (Zara)/Jacket (Ebay)/ Tee (Aritzia)/ Jeans & Boots (F21)/
