April 2020 Recap (Part 3)

The last piece of April.  More craft/storytime combos, plus the Mr.'s birthday at home (with so many visitors, it was great). We rented Trolls World Tour for the girls & watched it about 12 times in 48 hours, with DIY kiddie combos on the couch. We celebrated Earth Day with a special craft & homemade chocolate pudding.  I've actually enjoyed trying to make due with everything we have in the house, it's been a new kind of challenge in itself. Next week, it's back to actual outfits & fashion-related content...

Coffee filter rainbows, such a fun little project!
Happy Birthday Dada!
Birthday beers outside, with our little mover contained in his coup car :)
We were out front having social distance drinks/visits with family & friends almost all afternoon (perfect outfit for it).
Homemade kiddie combos, using tupperware & our football season supplies :)
Happy Earth Day! The girls painted their own hearts so well!
Homemade chocolate pudding cups ('bears at the beach').

A Flair for the Dramatic

What you wear when you turn 34 the day after Christmas (which happens to be a holiday in Canada) & you get to escape for an adult-only lunch. The sweater, sparkly hair clips, & ankle booties were all part of my birthday gift, so it seemed plausible to wear them same day. I added my leather-look leggings & it was the perfect, stress-free outfit to enjoy my day.

It’s currently summer here, seems we’ve completely skipped spring...what else can 2020 possibly throw at us??? I’m still on my ‘extended’ mat leave & trying really hard to make the most of it, but secretly hoping for day dates at restaurants, drinks on a patio, and any excuse to wear real outfits again...

Zoey is 4: A Frozen-Themed Winter Wonderland

In an attempt to empty off some camera cards, I realized I never shared photos from Zoey's 4th Birthday party.  It was the last time we had a full house of guests & I so miss hosting! I cannot wait to fill the house back up with family & friends. Until then, reminiscing will have to do...

Our big four-year-old! She was so happy with the decorations!
'Thanks Snow Much for Coming' take-home cups!
Cups had frozen candy bracelets, fruit snacks, & tattoos (via Walmart & Party City)
My parents brought cookies from my hometown bakery....the kids loved the rings, the adults loved the cookies!
DIY snow blankets from the dollar store made for the perfect addition to the few Frozen decorations we bought.
DIY centerpieces using fake snow & Xmas ornaments from the basement!
Snowflake crackers to fit the theme!
The kids loved these 'ice crystals'.
Zoey's cake, she was so excited!
Easy outfit for hosting (sweater: Amazon, earrings: F21).
The Birthday girl woke up to Frozen waffles & presents :)
Took her to her first trampoline park & the girls had a blast!

Mad for Plaid

I checked to see if I had used this post title before & I indeed have, way back in 2013! My photos have improved a bit & I am happy to admit, I still own both plaid shirts! It’s the day after Mother’s Day & I’m left feeling so, so appreciative of my fam.  The weather is not to be desired, but that shouldn’t surprise us by now. This plaid popped up in the new arrivals on j.crew.com & I could not resist the colors, especially since I already had these earrings added to my cart. Paired with these booties, it’s a little on the extra side but totally ‘me’.

For You, Anything For You

Although taken well over a month ago, this outfit may just prove relevant in the next few days. This weather is just as confused as the rest of us are these days! I’m a sucker for mixing textures in colder temperatures, I love the dynamic of a girly blouse paired with a fuzzy vest & topped off with something as simple as a knit beanie. This, right here, is an outfit I could live in day in and out. Hope everyone is staying safe & not going too stir-crazy....

Over-Accessorize

FINALLY found the time to edit some more photos & get some blog posts prepped (tough to do when I've taken on several more roles during all of this, as most mama's have). Today I over-accessorized (which yes, it totally a thing).  It all just sorta fell together, you know...like almost all of my outfits! I'm really into this dusty shade of pink, especially paired with different neutrals & my go-to pair of denim.

Outift Inception

Taken back when there was snow, which isn’t as long ago as you may think. I’ll be sad to store my beanies away, they’re super helpful on bad hair days! This outfit started with this hat & went from there for an easy look that’s appropriate for playing outside & inside on days like this. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve gotten ‘ready’ through all of this, but I really am trying to make this all about the kids & keeping them busy enough not to notice as much. I’ve got a ton of spring looks ready to roll, stay tuned...

One Year in Ptbo

One whole year residing in Peterborough! We celebrated this past Sunday with a couple beers & a family dinner. We closed just weeks before Bo was added to the mix, it was a crazy time.  One year later, it's still a crazy time...just in a different way.  This self-isolation way of living is so simple & slowed down. If it wasn't such a scary & unknown time, I think more of us would enjoy slowing down with our families.

Again, these were shot back when we had some freshly fallen snow.  However, this outfit was totally relevant to what I'm wearing lately.  I've styled these sweatshirt so many ways, it's the coziest piece I own at the moment & I find myself reaching for it more often than not.  Can't wait to pair it with cutoffs & white birks when it warms up...
