A Flair for the Dramatic

What you wear when you turn 34 the day after Christmas (which happens to be a holiday in Canada) & you get to escape for an adult-only lunch. The sweater, sparkly hair clips, & ankle booties were all part of my birthday gift, so it seemed plausible to wear them same day. I added my leather-look leggings & it was the perfect, stress-free outfit to enjoy my day.

It’s currently summer here, seems we’ve completely skipped spring...what else can 2020 possibly throw at us??? I’m still on my ‘extended’ mat leave & trying really hard to make the most of it, but secretly hoping for day dates at restaurants, drinks on a patio, and any excuse to wear real outfits again...

Mad for Plaid

I checked to see if I had used this post title before & I indeed have, way back in 2013! My photos have improved a bit & I am happy to admit, I still own both plaid shirts! It’s the day after Mother’s Day & I’m left feeling so, so appreciative of my fam.  The weather is not to be desired, but that shouldn’t surprise us by now. This plaid popped up in the new arrivals on j.crew.com & I could not resist the colors, especially since I already had these earrings added to my cart. Paired with these booties, it’s a little on the extra side but totally ‘me’.

Outift Inception

Taken back when there was snow, which isn’t as long ago as you may think. I’ll be sad to store my beanies away, they’re super helpful on bad hair days! This outfit started with this hat & went from there for an easy look that’s appropriate for playing outside & inside on days like this. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve gotten ‘ready’ through all of this, but I really am trying to make this all about the kids & keeping them busy enough not to notice as much. I’ve got a ton of spring looks ready to roll, stay tuned...

Safe At Home

Hello All! We are currently on our third week of self-isolation. The kids haven't left the house, with the exception of a few car rides for ice cream pick-ups or exploration.  The Mr. is still working daily, which we are very fortunate for.  He works primarily outdoors away from his coworkers for the most part, with his own truck serving as his office. The kids have been troopers & I think have come to terms with the fact that we cannot go anywhere or see anyone (including gramma). I've really tried to put in a ton of effort to make these weeks (or months, who knows) go as smoothly & make them as memorable as possible. We tossed in potty training for Sadie & she's doing so well. The girls do better with some sort of a schedule, so we've been planning things the night before to keep them busy. I hope everyone is well, I truly do!

Now, let's get to why you actually come here...my outfit! I needed something sunny & bright. Oh, and to actually put on real clothes really improved my mood. These are all items I already owned, but just tried to style differently (also shot over a month ago when we still had snow). Warm, springy weather is headed here soon so I'm doing what I always do...rushing to wear all my sweaters as much as possible before they're stored away for the season!

Photo Friday: This Past January

I have finally made it to 2020. Which, I guess if we have learned anything, is not something to celebrate at the moment.  It's chaotic out there & since we're all stuck inside staying safe, why not blog?!

2019 really was one for the books...we completed our family, started new traditions, did so much exploring in our new city, made new friends, celebrated some huge milestones, & above all, did it all together.  Here's a little recap into the first month of 2020, which really did start out just as strong...

These balloons lasted for weeks!!!
New Years Day is for coffee, pjs, & confetti poppers!
Fitting in, a Christmas present from the Mr. (Ptbo northern Originals)
Birthday gifts for moi (sweater & hair clips, both Zara)
Bo's Christmas present from Santa....a mini ball pit (via TJ Maxx)
Birthday prezzies from the parental unit (sweater: free people, sunnies: ray ban)
Birthday gifts from my Mother-in-Law (via Lululemon).
These boots....best birthday gift ever (to me, from me...via Zara).
Snuck away to celebrate a friend's wedding a few hours away, the hotel was the cutest (Walper Hotel).
This dress, perfect for a winter wedding (via H&M).
Snow chalk from Target Dollarspot (the girls had a blast).
Our very first snow-woman in all her Tye-dye glory :)

Post-Valentine's Hangover

My last outfit from Valentine's weekend.  An easy all black look, kept festive with heart-shaped statement earrings & sunglasses.  We managed to take down 4.5 bottles of wine on Valentine's night, which made for an entire day spent snuggled in bed or on the couch on Saturday (still had a kid with me at all times, so I totally parented through it).  I haven't been that hungover since after I had Zoey & I completely remember why now.  I live for outfits this easy & functional, especially with three kiddos to chase around...

Ridin' Roads

Winter outfits are some of my favorite to style.  All the layers & texture, paired with the best winter coats & boots.  We're quickly nearing the one year mark for being in our new house & city, I cannot believe how fast time is passing.  I'm both excited & terrified of what's to come in the next few months, making the control freak in me spaz out daily.

Today we’re celebrating Family Day up here & are currently en route to Vaughan Mills for the morning. After a few days around the house, we’ve got cabin fever & needed to escape.

FOUR.

FOUR MORE DAYS PEOPLE! Here we go, the kids are SO EXCITED for Santa we can hardly get them to talk about anything else.  The holidays with kids is just so special, I can't even explain it.  We got our little letters to Santa sent out, the last of the presents arrived & have been wrapped, & most of the groceries for Christmas Eve/Christmas dinner have been bought.  Today I thought I'd share a few photos of our elf, Frosting, & some other happenings around our house...

Couldn't resist this Rudolph mug (via Homesense). I try to add a few holiday mugs every year for the mug tree!
Green sequins & a holiday themed outfit for Bo (via H&M).
DIY salt dough ornaments for all our favs this year (the girls love crafting).
Right before we popped them in the oven to dry.
Winter pasta for the girls.  They love these seasonal shaped dinners (via Home Sense).
Holiday Cheer! Spotted this mug at Walmart & couldn't resist :)
Last minute presents arrived last week & have all been wrapped...I am officially ALL DONE!
Mailbox via Walmart & Post Cards to Santa from the Dollar Store :)
Frosting the Elf has arrived! This tradition has been such a fun one to start!
Sledding down the railing & leaves Candy Canes for the girls :)
Frosting reads to all our friends & brings us a new Christmas book :)
Frosting delivers Hot Chocolate & mini marshmallows:)
We took an elfie & printed out the photos (so cute)!
My most elaborate set-up yet....
We did festive mani/pedi's that day for both girls, they loved this set-up!
Snow angels on the counter with fake snow & a snowflake mini-waffle maker for breakfast!
Frosting does a magic trick with eggs!
Frosting goes fishing! She left a bag of Swedish fish for the girls to snack on :)
Frosting uses the training potty (& has green pee)!
Frosting bundles up in the new stockings (via Target) & gifts the girls new leggings :)
Frosting bakes cookies & brings some for us to bake together :)
