Fierce & Flirty

I have an unbearable cold, most likely the end result of the newly arrived winter weather.  What better way to make myself feel better than to wear my new moto boots? Would you believe I have been on the hunt for an affordable & decent looking pair for years?! I decided to pair my new kicks with my finally finished DIY bejeweled jacket.  I think the combination of floral & edge balances out nicely.  Did anyone take advantage of Cyber Monday? I know I sure did, Christmas gifts galore ;)

The First of Several

Just as I said before, I received several new wardrobe pieces over the weekend when my family came to visit.  The first I decided to wear (and photograph) was my new sweater coat from Anthro, due to recent snow fall & freezing temps.  I love the mixture of colors & prints, as well as it's cozy wool fabric. My first crack at cooking Thanksgiving dinner went shockingly well, so thanks so much to my mom for all her assistance in the kitchen ;)

Thankful

After several days of running around like a crazy person, I can finally relax...my family arrived safely yesterday (long 10 hr drive from Iowa), my fridge is fully stocked for today's tasks of cooking & eating, the house is moderately clean, & my blog has just reached over 100 followers! I cannot believe it & I couldn't be more thankful for everyone that takes the time to read my thoughts & leave me comments/suggestions each & every day. I started this blog for me, as a sort of creative outlet & to keep me occupied in my new place of residence so THANKS SO MUCH GUYS! Along with my family arrived several new wardrobe additions, which I can't wait to show you over the next couple of weeks! Wish me luck, this is my first time cooking Thanksgiving dinner.  Hope everyone has a fantastic holiday weekend & Good luck to all you crazy Black Friday Shoppers ;)

Faking It

In the world of fashion, it's heavily frowned upon to purchase fake instead of real....except when it comes to fur.  Fur served as a symbol of status decades ago, but no longer holds the same meaning- especially since basically every designer under the sun has produced a quality faux version.  Not only are these faux fur counterparts animal-friendly, they are more affordable (this means I can buy more styles as opposed to just one), & perfect layering pieces for the frigid winter temperatures.

Tribal Style

Native-American, ethic, & tribal inspired motifs have been making a comeback, creeping into numerous collections in recent seasons.  I happened to come across these sweater leggings by chance, hopelessly searching for a pair of H&M sweater leggings I couldn't find in stores.  I wasn't very fond of the Aztec print- it just didn't incorporate the same colors as the pair from H&M did.  I couldn't beat the price ($20) or the brand (Gina Tricot), but am I ever happy I bought 'em! I've worn them once before (seen here), but decided to tone the colors down a bit for a simpler version.

Lanvin for H&M: The Sneak Peak :)

As promised, I have returned from the Lanvin for H&M collection launch in Toronto.  I left my house at 1 am this morning, was in line (outside in the freezing cold) by 2:05 am, indoors waiting in line at 6am, & shopping my allotted 15 minutes at 8:40 am.  Phew, what a day! I am beyond exhausted & require my bed asap, so here's a sneak peak at what I grabbed....did anyone else in the US or Canada get what they were lusting for from the collection? Check back on Monday for a video about my experience ;)

What I was hoping for :)
Gorgeous shopping bags :)

Happy Saturday & Happy Lanvin for H&M :)

Channeling Miu Miu

When I first laid eyes upon the F2010 RTW collection from Miu Miu, I knew it was something brilliant. The designs, which clearly channeled the sixties, were minimal & structured, but adorned with the perfect amount of quirky details, trims, & embellishments.  The color palette was so refreshing, incorporating shades of black, purple, & orange...combinations I couldn't forget even if I wanted to.  However, it wasn't until I saw Canada's own Rachel McAdam's stunning editorial in the November issue of InStyle (see it here) that I immediately felt the need to peruse a slew of online vintage shops for my very own version.  So, how did I do?

Sheer Satisfaction

November has been such an incredibly crazy month already, with no sign of slowing down anytime soon.  Casual dressing has become my savior from all the hustle & bustle that goes hand-in-hand for this time of year.  I found this black vintage dress on Etsy several weeks ago & fell hard...the sheer skirt was the icing on the cake.  Although I could easily wear it as is with a vintage belt, I chose to add a chunky knit cardigan, some suspender tights, & heeled booties for today's outfit, complete with that wind blown look....
